Why we're are obsessed with moss bowls.
Bringing a touch of the outside into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing.
Having a moss bowl centre stage in your space can reduce stress and anxiety levels, boost serotonin levels and, in turn, improve your mood - ready to either be super productive or super chilled.
Five reasons to love
- No maintenance. Caring for your moss bowl requires zero time or effort.
- Long lasting. How long? Years. At least three but ten or more if you look after it.
- Good for you. Preserved moss is thought to have a calming effect. Studies have shown how the presence of greenery lowers anxiety and stress and promotes wellbeing.
- Non-allergenic. Moss does not contain pollen. Any spores are removed during the preservation process, so your moss bowl shouldn’t cause problems for people with allergies.
- Non-toxic. Preserved moss is not poisonous when touched or eaten (not recommended!) and considered safe for use in homes, offices and other spaces.
The preservation process
Once the moss is gathered, it goes through a four step process to give it the vibrance and texture to be a show stopping piece in your space:
STEP ONE: The moss is brushed so it is clear of pine needles and leaves.
STEP TWO: The moss is dried to remove excess moisture that would cause mould or decay,
STEP THREE: The water is replaced with glycerine, a natural substance which maintains the structure and natural beauty of the plant.
STEP FOUR: For some of our products, natural food dyes are used to replace any colour lost during the preservation process.
